When the Morris B. Sachs building was adaptively reused into the mixed-use Hairpin Lofts development, a critical program element was a community arts center. The resulting Hairpin Arts Center is a 7,000 SF flexible venue designed to support a wide range of arts programming, from live music and theater, to dance, visual arts exhibitions, and classes for all ages and income groups. It provides a central hub for local artists and organizations to collaborate and engage with their audiences. The nearly full-height display windows that line the perimeter of two of the elevations frame the interplay between the outside streetscape and inside performances.
