Ninety years of traffic and strain along the busily traveled Milwaukee Avenue required a historic restoration of the façade of the People’s Gas Light and Coke Company building. Spalls, holes, and missing details were restored to replicate the building’s original design. Finally, a carefully applied acid wash restored the building to its original gleaming state.
The adaptive re-use and historic restoration of this beautiful 7,575 s.f. building was completed to successfully meet both the needs and schedule of the client. The project’s restoration is also a significant contribution to the neighborhood and residents of Wicker Park.
